Issue
I have KeyACCIDENT 2025 but want to know how I should start using it.
Solution
A lot of new features are available in KeyACCIDENT 2025. Below is a set of resources covering installation, licences, data migration from the 2011 format, and basic uses.
1. Installation
Guidance on upgrading your KeyACCIDENT version with the installer file is HERE
Guidance to help IT support with silent installation is HERE
Guidance to configure other computers from a device with a completed setup is HERE
Guidance to bring KeyOSC Mapper into KeyACCIDENT, if needed, is HERE (needs no IT admin rights)
2. Licences
Guidance to allow old KeyACCIDENT versions to use the current licence is HERE
Other licence management tools help is HERE
3. Record count before/after migration
We expect 100% of your records to migrate. However, corrupted individual records in your current database may cause migration of individual records or batch(es) of 200 records to be isolated.
Guidance to check for 100% migration and what to do if this is not achieved is HERE
4. First use and the Migration Wizard
Note: You need to run the Migration Wizard to migrate your 2011 format data to 2024 format
Also use the Migration Wizard to format any empty databases also used by KeyACCIDENT
IT guidance for the Migration Wizard is HERE
User guidance for the Migration Wizard is HERE
An explanation of the helpful Product Usage tool is HERE
Guidance on renewing your KeyOSC Mapper menu, if needed, is HERE (requires no IT admin rights)
5. Video for the Migration Wizard
There is an introductory video HERE (video is 57 minutes)
6. Investigating failed records or batches
The goal we set for migrating 2011 format data is that every record, as far as is possible, will migrate into KeyACCIDENT 2025. Occasionally a corrupt record will get excluded or a migrating batch will be isolated.
Guidance on how to investigate any failed records is HERE
7. Migration settings
After I have migrated our 2011-format data, can I change the settings? See notes HERE
8. Why must I now set Police Force(s) per database?
Notes on why police force(s) must now be set per database are HERE
9. New desktop icons
To understand the new KeyACCIDENT desktop icons, see notes HERE
10. Import and STATS21 checks
A webinar explaining the new import options and STATS21 checks can be viewed HERE
11. Plotting tools
There are new plotting functions in versions from 7.13
If you are unfamiliar with these, there is a list of help resources HERE
12. Chart generator
There is a new chart generator in versions from 7.13
If you are unfamiliar with this, there is guidance in the online help manual and in a webinar HERE
13. Custom fields
KeyACCIDENT 2025 allows discontinued fields to be retained at migration and additional fields to be added where non-STATS19 information is available. See how to view and search this extra data HERE
14. Invalid (non-compliant) codes migrated to KeyACCIDENT 2025
To maximise the migration of 2011 format data, we include migration of non-compliant codes instead of leaving the affected fields blank. Details of how these invalid, non-compliant codes are handles are HERE
15. Importing data in the v6 3-file format
This is relevant to users getting data from Transport for London (TfL) in the KeyACCIDENT v6 3-file format and anyone else still receiving data in this now obsolete format.
We understand TfL developers are looking to make data exports available in the CRASH XML format.
Until then, guidance for a temporary workaround is HERE
16. Transferring records from KeyACCIDENT v7 Data Entry module into KeyACCIDENT 2024 format
If you are creating records using KeyACCIDENT Data Entry and the upgraded Data Entry module isn’t yet available, there is guidance to transfer records from v7 Data Entry into KeyACCIDENT 2025 (STATS19 2024 format) HERE
17. Sending data for technical support
Guidance for GDPR compliance and security if you need to send data for technical support is HERE
18. Encrypted KAML export files
Further information about encrypted export file in KeyACCIDENT 2025 is HERE
