CGS Labs Licensing - License version update

On each computer with CGS Labs Sw installed there is a service CGSALicenseUpdateService, which updates the license file when a new version of CGS Labs SW is released (if this license (serial number) is entitled to upgrade).

If the service has insufficient privileges to run and make changes to the license file, user can manually update the license by reactivating the serial number.

Single license

If the service CGSALicenseUpdateService fails to update the license file to the latest version, and the user updated the CGS Labs SW to the latest version, the SW will return a message, that the license is not available.

If you are entitled to use the latest version, reactivate your serial number. This will update the license file to the latest version (entitled to this license).

If the message with an unavailable license persists, please contact your local reseller or our support directly (support@cgs-labs.com).

Network license

If the service CGSALicenseUpdateService on the server (where the CGS Labs network license is running) fails to update the license file to the latest version, and users updated the CGS Labs SW to the latest version, the SW will return a message, that the license is not available.

If users are entitled to use the latest version, the network serial number should be manually reactivated on the server. This will update the license file to the latest version (entitled to this license).

On the server, there is a service rlm-cgs running, which takes care of server-client communication. This service needs to be restarted in order for the service to reread the updated license file.

Important: The service needs to be restarted regardless of whether the license file was updated automatically or manually. So, with every CGS Labs version upgrade (resulting in an updated license file), the service should be restarted prior to users can use the latest CGS Labs SW version.

How to restart the service? In License Administration (check the License management section) select Reread/restart Servers (1), select the ISV cgslabs (2), and Reread/restart (3).

After that, the license file is reread. You can check the license version in License Pool, accessible under server status (5).

No change on client computers is necessary.
