INTRODUCTION

This tutorial demonstrates how to create or delete a terrain boundary in CGS Labs terrain. We often create a boundary to reduce the amount of data in the drawing and, consequently, the size of the DWG file. However, boundaries can also be created for aesthetic reasons.

Outer boundary:

Inner (hide) boundary:

 

 OUTER BOUNDARY

1. You draw the boundary as a 2D or 3D polyline. In the right image, it is shown in blue color.

2. Run the "Terrain (11L1)" command.

3. Select the surface you want to edit from the drop-down menu.

4. Select "Boundary" from the drop-down menu. Select outer for the boundary type. (It is already automatically selected.)

Then click the plus button. After that, select the boundary directly in the drawing, and press Enter.

5. Next, press OK.

The terrain is now clipped along the boundary. On the outer side of the boundary, we no longer have elevation data.

INNER (HIDE) BOUNDARY

1. You draw the boundary as a 2D or 3D polyline. In the right image, it is shown in blue color.

2. Run the "Terrain (11L1)" command.

3. Select the surface you want to edit from the drop-down menu.

4. Select "Boundary" from the drop-down menu. Select hide for the boundary type.

Then click the plus button. Next, select the boundary directly in the drawing, and press Enter.

5. After that, press OK.

The terrain inside the inner boundary is hidden.

DELETE BOUNDARY

1. Run the "Terrain (11L1)" command.

2. Select the surface you want to edit from the drop-down menu.

3. Select "Boundary" from the drop-down menu. If this is the outer boundary, choose outer from the drop-down menu for the boundary type.

Click the cross button. Next, select the boundary directly in the drawing, and press Enter.

4. After that, press OK.
