Configuring CodeMeter services when dongle is on a Network/server

System requirements for a CodeMeter server

To set up a CodeMeter server as a network license server, you will need the following:

  • A computer with a network connection (should be running during work hours)
  • The computer needs to have at least one free USB port (to connect the CodeMeter dongle)
  • CodeMeter runtime needs to be installed (Downloadable from the website https://www.wibu.com/support/user/user-software.html)

License access permissions on the Server (on a machine hosting the dongle)

This means that the only users who were added to the License Access Permissions list may access the license server.

  1. Configure CodeMeter as a network server.
Open CodeMeter Control Center and click on the "WebAdmin" button at the bottom right, or open http://localhost:22352/
  2. A WebAdmin web page is opened.
  3. Navigate in CodeMeter WebAdmin to "Configuration|Server|Server Access".
  4. Select the "Enable" option in the "Network server" and confirm with "Apply".

  5. Navigate to "Configuration|Server|License Access Permissions".

On License Access Permissions, you can select between a basic and an advanced mode. The basic mode allows adding client computers by name (or) IP addresses for accessing the CodeMeter License Server.

  6. Click on Add -> Enter Client's name or IP address -> OK -> Apply changes.

  7. Re-open CodeMeter Control Center.
  8. Click the Navigation entry "Process| Restart CodeMeter Service" to restart CodeMeter as a network server.

Note: Please check that the company firewall does not block the specified port. If necessary, you can change it.

Server Search List (Client Side Settings on the User computer)

It is only necessary to specify if the license server is not running inside the local network (remote access through the internet) or if you have several license servers running on the local network.

  • Open CodeMeter Control Center and click the WebAdmin button at the bottom right, or open http://localhost:22352/
  • A WebAdmin web page is opened.
  • Open the Server Search List via the Configuration menu | BasicServer Search List.
  • Enter the IP address or the name of the license server.
  • Click on Apply.
