Plateia Profile - Change the scale of the profile view (Rescale - command 31D5)

INTRODUCTION

In CGS 2025.1, we have implemented a new function for rescaling Profile Views (command 31D5). This includes all CGS labels (elements), along with additional options for user-defined elements. Scale of the profile function includes rescaling CGS elements within the Profile View and resizing user-defined elements contained within rubrics (such as texts, lines, etc.). Now, all elements belonging to the Profile View can be rescaled.

This command allows editing an existing Profile View. When the command is run, it reads the current X and Y scales of the active Profile View and displays them in a dialog window. This functionality preserves all information within a longitudinal profile removes the current profile, and redraws it according to the user-defined scale. Any X and Y scale can be selected for rescaling. Adjusting these scales will affect both the graphical representation of the Profile View and its associated rubric data. All elements created using CGS (such as terrain lines, profile lines, CGS labels, elevation labels, and intersection lines) will be updated accordingly. Rubrics will be lengthened or shortened, and label values will be repositioned based on the new scales.

STEPS TO RESCALE

1. Open Rescale from the Profile ribbon (command 31D5) note; you have to have your profile chosen if you have more than one (arrow will be on the left side of your chosen profile)

2. Wich You can rescale your profile in each direction separately  (X and Y) as desired (X is not locked to the Y direction). In addition to Scaling CGG labels you can also choose to scale user-defined elements such as blocks and texts. With scaling the rubrics height you will also change the lookout of your profile table (picture below)

Mass haul rubrics and stop visibility/best fit graphs are not affected by the rescale command. Plot frames also need to be drawn again because, along with the positions, the number of frames can change.

Users have the option to use additional settings. These are not mandatory to use for changing the scale.

The "Scale User Elements" option allows rescaling of elements created with CAD commands, not by CGS functions. It includes all elements without extended data (CGSA_LK*) that are fully or partially within the graphical area of the Profile View. If any part of a polyline intersects with the graphical area, the entire polyline will be rescaled. Supported entities include: Line, Polyline (both light and heavy types), 3D Polyline, Circle, Arc, Text, Mtext, Block, Hatch, and Solid. This process adjusts the X and Y coordinates of each element based on the scale difference between the old and new Profile View scales.

Only the graphical portion of the Profile View is considered for rescaling. For instance, texts or polylines created by the user in the rubrics area are not affected. The rescale function identifies the bottom-left point (at the vertical scale line) and the top-right point (end of the Profile View, top of the vertical scale line) to define a rectangular frame. This frame is used to create a selection set, and only the CAD elements within this boundary are rescaled.

When using Block entities, scaling is done based on the block’s insertion point, so this needs to be carefully defined!

When using a Polyline with arc segments or an Arc entity, the bulge factor remains unchanged. This means that if the X and Y scales are adjusted non-uniformly, the scaling may be inaccurate. Although the vertices of the polyline will be correctly positioned, the arcs or bulge factors may not scale correctly. In such cases, it is recommended to tessellate polylines with arc segments to convert them into line segments. You can use the Polyline Editor in the Site Design module for this purpose.

The "Resize User Blocks" option adjusts the X and Y scales of CAD blocks according to the changes in the X and Y scales of the Profile View. Blocks will be resized if either the X or Y scale is modified.

The "Resize User Texts" option adjusts the size of Text and MText elements based on changes in the X and Y scales of the Profile View. Text and MText elements will be resized if either the X or Y scale is modified. If the scales differ, the larger scale change will be applied. Only the height property of the text is adjusted; the width property remains unchanged when rescaling the X factor.

The "Scale Rubrics Height" option adjusts the height of all rubrics in the Profile Vilčlčew according to changes in the X and Y scales. However, the content within the rubrics is not rescaled.
