Standard vehicles:
These vehicles are based on design guidelines arranged in standard vehicle libraries (SVL). These vehicles do not contain any signs next to their name. These vehicles can be copied and modified to create custom vehicles.
For single part vehicles
How to customize vehicles?
Select the vehicle you want to customize from the Standard Vehicle Library and copy the vehicle.
Once you copy the vehicle, you will be able to give the vehicle a new name and change the dimensions, as illustrated below (the fields are editable)
Adjusting/changing the vehicle dimensions
Overall length and Wheelbase
The locations to insert the values for the length and wheelbase are indicated in the below figure.
| A | Overall Length |
| B | Front overhang |
| C | Wheelbase |
The front overhang of the vehicle and the wheelbase
The front overhang of the vehicle is the distance from the center of the front axle group to the outside of the vehicle's front bumper.
For single unit vehicles, the software auto-calculates the rear overhang value (0.00 value in the image) from the entered overall length and front overhang values.
For a vehicle with a single axle at the rear
| A | Overall Length |
| B | Front overhang |
| C | Wheelbase |
For multi-rear axle vehicles
The wheelbase value is measured from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle group.
| A | Overall Length |
| B | Front Overhang |
| C | Wheelbase |
| D | Axle Spacing 1 |
| E | Rear Axle Spacing |
Height and ground clearance
The ground clearance is measured from the surface of the terrain to the lowest point of the vehicle.
| H | Height |
| K | Front Ground Clearance |
| L | Wheelbase Ground Clearance |
| M | Rear Ground Clearance |
Width and track values
The front and rear track values considered in AutoTURN are the outer distance between the outer left and right wheels.
| H | Height |
| F | Vehicle width without Mirrors |
| G | Front Track Width |
| J | Rear Track Width |
| N | Dual Wheel Width |
| P | Vehicle Width with Mirrors |
| W | Tire Width |
For multi part vehicles:
Navigate in AutoTURN on each part separately to fill out the dimensions accordingly.
Part 1
Select the first part of the vehicle. Once selected, you will be allowed to modify the dimensions related to this part.
| A1 | Part’s Total Length (related to this part) |
| B | Front overhang |
| C1 | Wheelbase (related to this part) |
| Z | Rear axle group center to connector |
Part 2
Select the second part of the vehicle to adjust the dimensions
| A2 | Body Front to pivot |
| A3 | Part’s Total Length (related to this part) |
| C2 | Wheelbase (related to this part) |
Pitch is the rotation around the axle (Y), Roll is the rotation around the axle (X) and articulation is the rotation around the axle (Z). Users can adjust these angles based on information obtained from the manufacturer.
Note:
- For some of the special transport vehicles, vehicle customization is not allowed to prevent producing unrealistic situations. Alternatively, Project Support Services (PSS) can be used to assist in creating complex custom vehicles for a fee.
