Topic: Steering transition
Answer: When using the SmartPath tools in AutoTURN for creating an arc path simulation, there is a transition portion where the radius is changing constantly based on the vehicle’s steering rate for every step of the path to reach the steering angle required to accomplish the turn maneuver. Depending on the path’s length, the vehicle may only need that transition portion (i.e. the vehicle doesn’t reach the steady-state or circular portion where the centerline trajectory describes an arc) to make the turn. Steering transitions are only modelled when the turn wheels from stop option is off.
