Are there any special considerations I need to make when installing to Windows Server 2008 R2 or Server 2012?

The AviPLAN setup requires that .Net 3.5 is previously installed on Windows Server in order for some features, such as MSI and SQL Server Express, to be installed correctly. To install .Net 3.5 perform the following:

  1. Login to the server as Administrator
  2. In Windows Server 2008 R2:
    1. Start the Server Manager
    2. Scroll down to the Features Summary section and then click Add Features
    3. Enable .NET Framework 3.5 and then click Install
  3. In Windows Server 2012:
    1. From the Server Manager -> Dashboard, click Manage and then select Add Roles and Features
    2. Click Next through the Add Roles and Features Wizard until you reach the Select Features page
    3. Enable .Net Framework 3.5 and then click Install

You can now install the AviPLAN Server without error.
