How can I define custom parking standard in ParkCAD?

In ParkCAD, users can create new parking standards from scratch or copy and modify existing parking standards. The following describes the processes. For further information, please refer to the Help file of ParkCAD.

To Create a New Standard

A wizard is used to guide the user through the process of creating new parking standards. The wizard can create a matrix of combinations of each of the criteria called layouts or the user can opt to create the layouts manually. Once the user has supplied values for the required values ParkCAD automatically calculates the remaining values for the layout.

To Create a New Parking Standard:

  1. Click Design Parameters on the ParkCAD toolbar or menu.
  2. Click the Parking Standards
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter a name for the new parking standard.
  5. Choose to either create a new parking standard or copy an existing parking standard you can then modify.

Creating a New Parking Standard:

  1. Click Create New Standard.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Add vehicle sizes, parking classes and supported parking angles by following the steps described by the Wizard then click Next.
  4. Select the units of measure from the list then click Next.
  5. Choose to have the New Standard Wizard create the layouts automatically then click Next. If you want to create the layouts manually, clear this check box.
  6. Click Finish to confirm that you want to create the new standard.

  8. Type the following required values for each Layout:
        • SW Basic Stall Width
        • SL Basic Stall Length
        • AW Aisle Width (One-Way)
        • AW Aisle Width (Two-Way)
  1. ParkCAD will calculate the remaining values in the layout (the values in grey).
  2. When you are finished adding the required values, click Save then OK.

Copying an Existing Parking Standard:

  1. Click Copy and Modify Existing Standard.
  2. Select the parking standard to copy from the list then click Next.
